1. Introduction
Advantage Robotics (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates advantagerobotics.ca, a website offering robotics kit courses for young learners. We are committed to protecting the personal information of our customers in compliance with Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where applicable, Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and your rights regarding that information. By creating an account or purchasing from our store, you — as the parent or guardian — agree to the practices described in this policy.
2. Who This Policy Applies To
Our courses are designed for children and teenagers under the age of 18. We expect that all accounts are created and managed by a parent or legal guardian, who completes the purchase using a credit card and is responsible for the account.
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. By creating an account, the account holder confirms they are at least 18 years of age, or are a parent or guardian acting on behalf of a minor.
If you believe a minor has created an account without parental consent, please contact us at [email protected] and we will promptly delete the account and associated data.

We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling, and we do not sell your personal information to third parties.
5. Third-Party Services
To operate our website and deliver our services, we share limited data with the following trusted third parties:
5.1 Stripe (Payment Processing)
Credit card transactions are processed securely by Stripe. Your payment details are submitted directly to Stripe and are governed by Stripe’s own Privacy Policy. We receive only a payment confirmation and partial card details (such as the last four digits and card type) for record-keeping purposes.
5.2 Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with our site. Google Analytics collects anonymized data including pages visited, session duration, and general geographic location. This data is aggregated and does not identify individual users. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking using the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on.
5.3 Meta (Facebook) Pixel
We use the Meta Pixel to measure the effectiveness of our advertising and understand how visitors arrive at our site. The Pixel may collect information about your device and browsing behaviour. You can manage your preferences through your Facebook or Meta account settings, or use a browser extension to block tracking pixels.
Note for parents: Our advertising is directed at parents and guardians, not at children. We do not use the Meta Pixel to target minors. If you have concerns about how Meta handles data, we encourage you to review Meta’s Privacy Policy.
We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these third-party services, as their data practices are independent of ours.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy:
- Account and purchase records are retained for a minimum of 7 years as required for tax and accounting purposes under Alberta law.
- Course progress data is retained for as long as your account remains active.
- If you request deletion of your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
7. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Our website uses cookies — small text files stored on your device — to operate the site and improve your experience. We use three types:
- Essential cookies: Required for login sessions, shopping cart functionality, and checkout. These cannot be disabled without breaking core site features.
- Analytics cookies: Set by Google Analytics to track site usage in an anonymized, aggregated way.
- Advertising cookies: Set by the Meta Pixel to measure ad performance.
You can manage or disable non-essential cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling cookies may affect certain site functionality.
8. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including:
- HTTPS encryption for all data transmitted to and from our website
- Password-protected WordPress administration with limited user permissions
- Payment data handled exclusively by Stripe, which is PCI-DSS certified
No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure. In the event of a data breach that poses a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as required by law.
9. Your Rights
Under PIPA (Alberta), you have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access: You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction: You may request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Withdrawal of consent: You may withdraw consent for non-essential uses of your data at any time, subject to legal or contractual limitations.
- Deletion: You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data, subject to legal retention obligations.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the information in Section 11. We will respond to all requests within 30 days.
10. Children’s Privacy
Because our courses are used by minors, we take additional care:
- Accounts must be created by a parent or guardian aged 18 or older.
- We collect only the information needed to deliver the course and ship the kit.
- We do not serve targeted advertising directly to children.
- Our platform has no social features — users cannot post content or interact with one another.
- Parents may request access to, correction of, or deletion of their child’s data at any time by contacting us.
11. Contact Us
